NIO Files Facial Recognition Patents

Recently, Shanghai Weilan Power Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has added a new patent "Dynamic face recognition device and method, computer program" to its patent information, with an application date of June 2019 and a publication date of September 2020. The patent details show that the invention provides a dynamic face recognition device and method based on a facial movement profile. The apparatus comprises, a database, an image capture device, and a processing unit. The database stores a default facial movement of a user and includes at least one facial feature point. The image capturing device tracks the facial movements of the user and records an approximate video clip in which the user makes an approximate facial movement and at least one approximate facial expression in a momentary frame. The processing unit is connected to the database and the video capture device. Weilan was founded in May 2016, with the legal representative Zeng Shuxiang, registered capital of about RMB 317 million, and business scope includes technology development, technology transfer, technology consulting, technical services, and sales of auto parts in the field of new energy auto parts. The chairman of the company is William Li, the founder of NIO, and the director is Qin Lihong, the president of NIO, and Jiangsu NIO Auto Technology Co. holds 100% of the company's equity.

NIO Launched The 100kwh Battery Pack

NIO launched the 100kWh battery pack on Nov 6. The new battery pack will be compatible with all existing models. The new battery pack costs RMB 5,400 for non-BaaS users to upgrade from 84kWh to 100kWh, and RMB 58,000 for 70kWh users. William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO said at the scene that all models support battery pack upgrade, and the NEDC range of ec6 will increase to 615km, es6 to 610km, and the new es8 to 580km.  The new 100kWh battery pack supports all-weather temperature control, non-heat spreading safety design, and highly integrated CTP, which increases energy density by 37%. New option owners and permanent upgrade owners can book the service from November 7, with deliveries to follow in December this year.
