NIO Leads the Standardizing of Battery Swapping

A total of five battery swap industry standards were officially approved for publication on October 23, 2020 and will be implemented from February 1, 2021, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).

The National Energy Administration released the industry standards for battery swapping developed by NIO.

Among them, NIO took the lead in the compilation of 10435, 10436 and 33025 standards, and was deeply involved in the compilation of 10434 and 33004 standards. This batch of standards took more than 2 years from project initiation to release, and hundreds of comments were collected.

NIO led the preparation of:

1. NB/T 10435-2020 General Technical Requirements for Quick-Change Battery Box Locking Mechanism for Electric Vehicles

2. NB/T 10436-2020 General Technical Requirements for Cooling Interface of Quick-Change Battery Boxes for Electric Vehicles

3. NB/T 33025-2020 General Requirements for Quick-Change Battery Boxes for Electric Vehicles


NIO also deeply involved: 

1. NB/T 33004-2020 Specification for Construction and Acceptance of Electric Vehicle Charging and Switching Facilities Engineering

2. NB/T 10434-2020 General Technical Requirements for Chassis Type Battery Replacement System for Electric Passenger Vehicles


Standardization is the basis for industrial promotion. In the meantime of policy promotion and industrialization, NIO continuously strengthens itself and insists on providing users with high-standard and easy-to-use products and services, insists on using one-size battery pack and flexible deployment of standardized power swapping station, which makes all NIO models support power swapping at any NIO battery swapping station, so that owners can enjoy the benefits of NIO’s technological advancement.

NIO has participated in more than 20 power swapping standards.

Based on battery swapping, NIO has launched BaaS battery rental service, providing flexible battery services such as car/electricity separation, battery rental, rechargeable, exchangeable and upgradeable, which is a breakthrough innovation in technology and business model. So far, NIO has obtained more than 1200 patents related to power exchange, and has participated in the compilation of more than 20 power exchange standards. With an open attitude, NIO will continue to promote the power swapping model and standardization work, to realize the joint development of industrial ecology with the industry, and to contribute to the green low-carbon travel.
